On-line Diagnostics of Power Inverter

Diagnostics of power IGBT transistor in voltage-source inverter is discussed in this paper. Proposed solution is based on embedded diagnostic functions in the IGBT driver. It is necessary that the measurement of diagnostic quantities is installed as close to the power IGBT transistor. Like other diagnostics circuits and processing. All this we make in order to high reliability and predictability of failures. In this paper are discussed possibilities of measurement quantities for transistor diagnostics. For example voltage overshoot size, off-state voltage, on-state saturation voltage, transistor chip temperature, inverter output current, gate charge and driver secondary side supply voltages are measured. We propose some hardware solutions for obtaining mentioned quantities.
