EFFICIENT ESTIMATION OF POPULATION VARIANCE USING ROBUST MEASURES

摘要
In the present paper, we suggest a general family of estimators of population variance using auxiliary information. We utilize the auxiliary information in the form of the robust measures of auxiliary variable. We study the bias and the Mean Squared error (MSE) of the suggested estimator up to the approximation of order one. We find the optimum value of the characterizing constant for this value, we find the minimum value of MSE of the suggested estimator. The proposed estimator is compared with the competing estimators and efficiency conditions of suggested estimator are obtained. The efficiency conditions are verified through some natural populations.
