Excitation of wake fields by relativistic electron bunches in a plasma with radial density variation

摘要
The optimum conditions for the excitation of wake fields by relativistic electron bunches in a plasma are considered. The plasma and bunch parameters corresponding to the most efficient excitation of wake fields are determined. The effect of the finite radial plasma dimension on the excitation efficiency of the wake fields is studied. The excitation of wake fields by a bunch propagating in a preformed vacuum channel in a plasma is analyzed.
