Environmental ore deposit models: insights from Sardinia

摘要
Sardinia hosts a wide variety of ore deposit types, some of which have been recently investigated for their environmental impact. The results obtained for the high sulfidation epithermal gold deposit at Furtei, the Mississippi Valley-type Pb-Zn deposit at Monteponi, and the Pb-Zn-Ag veins at Montevecchio are reviewed as a contribution to the establishment of environmental geology models for these types of deposits. In addition to the general geologic characteristics of each deposit type, we emphasize the importance of local hydrogeologic, ore-processing, and climatic factors in determining the actual environmental impact in a specific locality.
