Democratic pluralism

Revitalizing and protecting the environment requires cooperation from every citizen in a world where the ideals of democratic or participatory government are increasingly becoming the norm. Securing cooperation requires motivating those citizens. We must insinuate the best available theory into the minds and hearts of the ordinary men and women whose decisions will determine the course of our future together. This paper argues that the best available theory is that which views each citizen as equal in worth to every other, even though some are born with the potential to contribute more than the average to the welfare of others.
