Short- and medium-term effects of a partially inpatient cardiovascular prevention programme

We report on the short- and medium-term effects of a partially inpatient preventive measure of 3,5 weeks in 184 consecutive participants, which aimed at a self-controlled change in lifestyle. For this purpose, the participants as well as family anc occupational physicians received previously announced questionnaires 6 and 12 months after the measure. The main result of both patient and family physician questioning was a medium-term reduction of body weight and of systolic and diastolic blood pressure and an increase of physical activities. An improvement of the lipid profile could only be achieved on a short-term basis. The results prove the medium-term effectiveness of a comprehensive partially inpatient secondary prevention programme at least with regard to some cardiovascular risk factors.
