A software called ASSISTAT (Statistical assistence) was developed to assist agricultural engineering researchers in performing variance analysis only, since most of the available commercial statistical software packages that include ANOVA are excessively sophisticated and so non-friendlly usable. It makes calculations rapidly, is friendlly used, and enables the ANOVA with: the simple trial data analysis (only one set of treatment); the subdevided parcelle trial (two sets of treatment); and the factorial trial (with two or more factors). In all three cases, the trials can have either a randomized block design or a campletely randomized design. Besides, it performs the David, Tukey, and Wilcoxom-Mann-Whitney tests. The software has been extensivelly tested by the agricultural engineering graduate students of the Paraiba Federal University, Brasil, aiming user's acceptability due to its timing processing fastness, objectivity, and easy use.
