摘要
The performances of high speed cutting machine tools improve thanks to the increase of performances which depend on the technologies currently available. Increase of performances and improvement of machine availability must proceed at the same rate. A new challange for the future is the increase of reliability and availability of the machine tool. This is not easy to achieve on machines with high performances because the components are under high dynamic stresses. This work examines the key aspects of both reliability and availability of high speed machine tools. taking into consideration the design and defects which are involved in the improvement with respect to the cost and life of the machine.
