摘要
In this paper a cognitive radar platform is studied from the self-positioning perspective. A system is assumed to be placed in an unknown environment with the goal of locating objects and targets and adjust its movement trajectory depending on its position with respect to those targets. In this initial study we address the following scenario: A radar platform is placed in an empty room with a doorway and is tasked with locating the latter. A simulator which accomplishes the task of computing the return power from a radar-illuminated area was constructed and used. Method of moments was used in conjunction with it to provide estimates of the return power based upon the known models of the environment's components (such as walls). Simulation results are presented and discussed; it is shown that at SNR levels above 0 dB the doorway can be successfully located. Autonomous operation of the resultant cognitive radars sensor system is the desired outcome for the future work.
