Not just a digestive stimulator: The yellow gentian (Gentiana lutea L.)

摘要：
The therapeutic use of Yellow Gentian was documented about 2000 years ago. In the Middle Ages, Yellow Gentian was almost regarded as a universal remedy. It played an outstanding role in veterinary medicine and was widely used especially for digestive disorders. In the 20th century it lost massive importance in veterinary medicine, but not in folk medicine. Since the discovery of the first bitter substance receptors in 2000, bitter substance drugs such as yellow gentian have regained their importance.
