摘要
The benefit of hybrid mobile communication networks combining point-to-point and point-to-multipoint systems should be an optimised transfer of data for both providers and customers. In this paper, the focus is on joint radio network planning of hybrid mobile communication networks consisting of unicast (UMTS) and broadcast (DVB-H) delivery systems. Optimised network planning is a non-trivial task even for a single network. Hence, planning and optimisation of hybrid networks implicate great challenges. For these issues, realistic traffic estimations are required. Therefore, a scenario has been developed based on the public reference scenario of Berlin from the IST-MOMENTUM project. A method for designing a DVB-H network architecture including transmitter position and cell size is introduced. Furthermore, the necessary transmitting power is estimated. The evaluation of the benefit of a hybrid network is introduced and shown in an example. Copyright (C) 2006 AEIT.
