摘要
A simple and efficient procedure for the synthesis of azlactones employing condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with hippuric acid has been developed by using the tosyl chloride (TsCl) and dimethylformamide (DMF) system as condensing agent in the absence of solvents under microwave irradiation. The present protocol is operationally simple and offers several advantages such as high yields, short reaction time, and simple workup. (c) 2011 Academie des sciences.
