摘要：
The present paper aims at analyzing the particularities that characterize Romanian current economic situation, by highlighting the challenges and opportunities that are embedded in the current economic environment. For this aim we review some of the useful literature addressing the causes of the actual financial crisis. Emphasize is put on the specific details that characterize Romanian economy in general and the banking system in particular. Our focus is on the financial stability objective that is an intrinsic goal for the NBR. Furthermore, we discuss the timetable concerning the adoption of EURO an bring into discussion the threats embedded in the actual context with particular reference to monetary convergence
