A Study of Current Situation and Strategies of College English Multimedia Teaching

In China, multimedia finds a broad use in English instruction, and it will be the development orientation of the reform of English teaching in colleges. But at present, college English multimedia teaching is still at its experimental stage, and there exist many problems and defects in it. Based on teaching practice, questionnaire, this paper analyzed the current situation of college English multimedia teaching, found the main problems in three aspects: multimedia material, the teacher and the student, then put forward the strategies to integrate the multimedia technologies into English teaching approach, mainly about training the teacher to meet his new role, and fostering the students' autonomous learning ability. The combination of the two aspects can ultimately optimize the college English multimedia teaching better. This is new compared the previous studies which had not done it.
