摘要
Divorce is a universal phenomenon and its nature and pattern of activities differ from one religion to another and from one culture to another. The perspective of this issue depends mainly on cultural compositions, religion, region etc. The problem of divorce among Muslims in Bangladesh is severe in many respects. According to law, husband has unilateral power of divorce to wife while wife does not have. There is no post-divorce maintenance provision here. It is not needless to say that women are the total victims of divorce in comparison to men. The paper focuses mainly on the socio-demographic profile of divorced women in Bangladesh. Emphases have been given on age, education, occupation, profession and children of divorced women. Descriptive research design has been adopted to meet up the aims and objectives of the study. Appropriative data collection techniques have been made to collect the requisite information. It is revealed from the study that the socio-economic conditions of divorced women are not so good.
