THE PLACE OF MUSIC EDUCATION IN EDUCATION POLICY

In Turkey, the top institution maintaining the education policy is the National Ministry of Education. Policy is explained as the political party's (holding the government) way of direction and prospects towards the future. The recent research done is showing that while forming the education policies, mostly there is not a special attention given towards music education. The main aim is to identify the value given to the music education. In line with this aim, following question is the problem statement of the study "To what extend did the Ministry of Education measure and evaluate the music education within these council meetings?" This study sorts out the attention given by the governments through the analysis of the documents. After the analysis of the council documents, some ups and downs towards the music education is found in the policies.
