摘要
The United Nations' Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for the classification and labelling of chemicals has been transposed into European law in EC Directive No. 1272/2008 and came into effect on 20(th) January 2009. It is being introduced gradually for substances until 2010 and for mixtures until 2015 in the EC member states. The GHS is a totally new classification and labelling system for chemicals that consists of numerous hazard classes which are in turn subdivided into hazard categories according to the severity of the hazard. Certain communication elements such as hazard pictograms, signal words, hazard statements (H-phrases) and precautionary statements (P-phrases) have been assigned to these hazard categories. This article reports on trends in and details of the GHS.
