摘要
Clinical trials have shown that HN-positive pregnant women treated with zidovudine during the last stages of pregnancy and during delivery have a much lower rate of HIV transmission to their newborns. A dynamic computer simulation model was constructed using STELLA II. The model was used to estimate the economic consequences of testing pregnant women for the H-IV virus and treating those women found to be HIV-positive and their newborn infants with zidovudine. The results of this analysis provide information concerning the value of voluntary screening and treatment programs for pregnant women.
