摘要
Adsorption is an important field of study for heterogeneous catalysis, chromatographic analysis, dyeing of textiles and clarification of various effluents. The present investigation describes the adsorption of methylene blue, a cationic organic dye, and yellow croconate, an anionic organic dye, on chitin, The adsorption parameters were obtained from Langmuir isotherms utilizing a linear regression plot as the best fit to the data, The maximum adsorption capacities of chitin for methylene blue and yellow croconate are (2,60 +/- 0,20) and (7,69 +/- 1,54) mg.g(-1), respectively. The adsorption was found to be pH dependent. A possible mechanism involves the amino groups as active sites for adsorption.
