摘要
Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles with small size and biostability are very important and used in various applications. There are a lot of reports for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by the addition of reducing and stabilizing agent. In the present study we have synthesized silver nanoparticles using juniper berries (Juniperus communis) extract, which acts both as reducing and stabilizing agent. The silver nanoparticles formation was confirmed by the color change of plant extracts and further confirmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy. These phytosynthesized silver nanoparticles were tested for antibacterial and antifungal activities using agar well diffusion method. The results indicated that silver nanoparticles have antimicrobial activity against test microorganisms. The antimicrobial properties of silver nanoparticles were analyzed by measuring with caliper to an accuracy of 0.1 mm the inhibition zone of microorganism. Antimicrobial activity was calculated as a mean of three replicate tests.
