摘要
The Power Electronic Traction Transformer (PETT) deals with the design and analysis of high frequency transformer to reduce the core size and desired power control. The concept of PETT for a 25kV 50-Hz railway electrification system is based of the usage about medium frequency transformers (MFT) and power electronic devices such as IGBTs. The idea for PETT is to substitute the ordinary line frequency transformer (LFT) with minimizing the core size, weight and improving the efficiency of the transformer. The area of a power transformers core is basically discovered from the laws of material science, as the core should contain minimum measurements to suite the entire magnetic field. One particularly difficult application region in transformers is traction to minimize losses and improve efficiency. The more area the transformer possesses the less is accessible for the travelers in the train. In terms regarding rising this device smaller then lighter, laws of material science luckily permit some extension for development in the working frequency. Higher the frequency of the transformer, smaller will be the designed core size. The key principle of the PETT was the use of high frequency system of IGBTs and transformer positively impacting its size.
