The Quality of Life of the Women with Urinary Incontinence

Urinary incontinence is a frequent condition among women with a frequency between 15-55% in general population. There are three main types of urinary incontinence: stress, urge and mixed. The most frequent form is stress urinary incontinence. This pathologic entity is of high importance due to major impact on quality of life (QoL) having impact on social, familial life and on intimacy. Due to direct effect on genitourinary tract it influences sexual function. It can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem and everyday life impairment, its hard predictibility is contributing to limiting actions including sexual activities. Taking into consideration the financial burden of this pathologic entity, high incidence and impact on quality of life it may be seen as a public health issue. We will present the evidence in the literature on urinary incontinence impact on quality of life in general and the direct effect on sexual life.
