The fish Saramunete (Pseudupneus maculatus), typical of the North Coast from Pernambuco State - Brazil, constitutes an emerging fishing resource of great economical importance in the craft fishing executed in the coast of Ponta of Pedra. Now the fish consumption has been increasing in several areas, however, when consumed raw or semi-raw, without the appropriate hygienic measures, the consumption of this food can turn a problem of public health. It was aimed in this paper to relate the occurrence of eggs of Capillaria sp. in filet of fish Saramunete (Pseudupneus maculatus) marketed in the Metropolitan Area of Recife -PE. Samples of filet of aforesaid fish were transported to the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases of the Domestic Animals of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco in box isothermal containing ice. After the inspection of the samples, and analyze through optical microscope, the presence of eggs of Capillaria sp. was verified, being constituted in the first report of parasitism in Saramunete (Pseudupneus maculatus).
