Development of zigzag thin-film-transistor-driven OCB for field-sequential-color LCDs with high aperture ratio

摘要
For the first time, we have developed a field-sequential 3.5" VGA zigzag TFT-driven OCB prototype that the splay-to-bend transition of the OCB LC was initiated by zigzag TFTs to enable a design of 64.5%-aperture ratio. We also optimize the light transmittance through the OCB LC medium to obtain a total panel transmittance of 15.2% by a novel driving scheme. The prototype shows a wide color gamut of 125% NTSC by using scanning LED backlights.
