摘要
Although information technology (IT) is being applied to various aspects of construction projects during their lifecycle, there is a need for an integrated IT system so that authorized users can record, view, query and update information when needed. Through analyzing key issues of project management over project lifecycle, this paper proposed a conceptual framework of information modeling for construction projects (PIM). The framework consists of three key components in a network-based environment: (1) a master data management system; (2) a project information portal (PIP); and (3) a various number of applications. A successful PIM system would provide a representation of the project process to facilitate exchange and interoperability of information in digital format.
