Environmental sustainability in the semiconductor industry

For manufacturers, environmental sustainability is dependent upon decisions made throughout a product's life cycle which includes research, development and manufacturing processes. This paper briefly describes how environmental sustainability has become one of the main priorities in developing new manufacturing processes, facilities and products at Intel. The paper concludes with a call for collaboration since there remains a need for increased research and knowledge exchange in the field of environmental sustainability, specifically in the areas of life cycle assessment and environmental footprinting.
