摘要
Fusarium graminearum causes Gibberella ear rot in maize and contaminates the infected kernels with mycotoxins like, deoxynivalenol (DON). DON acts as virulence factor and interacts with the ribosomal protein L3 (Rpl3) that initiates cukaryotic protein synthesis. In this study transgenic maize plants were developed with a modified Rpl3 gene from rice that is resistant to DON. Field grown transgenic maize had lower disease scores after inoculation with F. graminearum.
