An Efficient Protocol for Minimizing Long-distance Communications over Wireless Sensor Networks

摘要
In this article, we proposed a new layering-based network protocol that aims at minimizing the long-distance communications, thereby prolonging the network lifetime. In this protocol, we further propose effective and distributed algorithms for energy-aware cluster-head rotation and relaying, achieving more energy consumption. Performance of the proposed protocol is evaluated through carrying out many MATLAB simulation experiments. Compared to other former approaches, simulation results show that the performance of our approach is the most superior in term of network lifetime.
