Working with real systems allows students to acquire a series of skills that will help them in their professional development. This paper describes how the assembly of a robot is a learning platform, not only as a tool to work with subjects related to robotics, but to encourage teamwork, collaboration, and a series of manual skills besides being a multidisciplinary approach. Even more, there are some values that are essential for the integral formation of the students such us patience, concentration, to consult books and participate in forums, that can be only taught by doing this kind of activities with real systems. These technological and practical resources and experiments open many possibilities for teachers to foster active learners who see the classroom as a place they want to be and engage students more deeply in the learning process.
