BEARING CAPACITY OF PILED RAFT FOUNDATIONS ON SOFT CLAYSOILS

摘要
The bearing capacity of a piled raft foundation on soft clay ground is investigated by a 3D finite element method (FEM) under the undrained condition. The models are strip foundations with piles. To examine load-settlement relation, nonlinearity before the failure state is added to the Tresca model used for the soil. The result shows that the ultimate bearing capacity of a piled raft foundation is almost equal to or slightly smaller than the sum of the bearing capacity of the pile group and the raft alone. The critical load for structural design is also investigated. The possibility of expressing the critical load using contributing factors of the pile group and the raft alone is shown.
