摘要
Dendrimers are an excellent candidate that exhibits higher proficiency in biomedical applications such as drug delivery, inhibition and/or targeting gene delivery. The use of dendrimers to improve biocompatibility in bio-logical systems i.e., in vitro and in vivo cytotoxicity, immunogenicity and bio-stability has been reported. Dendrimers could be used as a targeted drug for viral and bacterial infections. In addition, it could also be used as an anti-tumor agent due to its binding ability with the targeted drug and encapsulate the molecules for drug delivery and solubility enhancement. In this review, we comprehensively detailed the current scientific literature on dendrimers in the context of synthesis, molecular dynamics and biomedical applications. The outcome of the present study will assist in better understanding of cytotoxicity and biocompatibility of dendrimers, followed by providing its shreds of evidence in medical applications. However, further research is still required to investigate the fragility and sub-dynamics of dendrimers at various conditions and explore the control of toxicity and ability of dendrimers to trigger the release of DNA or drugs into the target site before conducting further clinical trials and experiments.
