This document aims to present the experience of academic management on the implementation of the online mode of the "Certificate for the update and training of professor's competencies, for the National System of Higher Education", designed for teachers of the national system of technological education. This paper has the purpose of provide good practices that were carried out at baseline and during development. This adventure began in early 2011, when the "National Polytechnic Institute", received a request from the "Direction General Higher Education Technological" (DGEST), to provide a "Certificate for training and skills development of professors". The DGEST also invited other institutions. They answered 25, public and private, including the "College of Business and Administration (IPN)". All institutions proposed a program of study and passed through an evaluation process, as a result were selected only fifteen. At the end only seven organizations met the requirements requested. The academic program was developed and supported with border information and the most advanced methodologies for the construction and knowledge teaching in virtual mode, and was registered and approved by the DGEST and the IPN. The program consisted on a preliminary module, whose purpose was to standardize the computer skills of participants to use the technology platform, followed by five thematic modules: 1) Teaching competencies in higher education; 2) Planning of the learning process; 3) Didactic strategies for developing teaching skills; 4) Evaluation of the learning process; and 5) information and communication technologies in teaching. The course began on September 12, 2011 and ended on December 16, 2011. The professors had the option to choose the school where they were interested to study the program. It is important to mention that from the two thousand four hundred seventy-six (2,476) participating professors, one thousand three hundred seventy-seven (1,377), selected the " National Polytechnic Institute (IPN)" as the institution with an offer of education, experience and informatics platform that best responded to their expectations and needs. The percentage of professors who preferred the IPN was the 55.6% from the total, which corresponds to 86 technology campuses distributed in all the Mexican country.
