Modeling and FEA Analysis of Axial Flux PMG for Low Speed Wind Turbine Applications

摘要
In this research paper, an efficient, low-speed direct drive axial flux permanent magnet generator (AFPMG) is designed and analyzed by Maxwell 3D FEM and modeled by using MATLAB Simulink. The dynamic behavior of AFPM generator can be analyzed from the developed model. The conventional radial flux machine is used before the invention of axial flux topology. The conventional topology has lot of demerits such as large weight, core losses, length, and higher requirement of cooling system. The proposed AFPM generator has dual rotor and single coreless stator and it is coupled with the wind turbine. The permanent magnet generator is further enhanced by attractive high energy permanent magnet materials like NdFeB. The simulation results of AFPM generator in MATLAB/Simulink and FEM analysis shows the performance characteristics of the machine.
