In order to eliminate the technical difficulties associated with the powder injection molding (PIM) development, it is important to numerically simulate the PIM process before moving to the shop-floor level. Rheological-, p-V-T-, specific heat-, thermal conductivity-, density data are some of the required inputs for simulation. This article discusses some of the results of an investigation on the specific heat of the commercially available 316L BASF powder injection molding feedstocks.
