LIFE SATISFACTION OF SENIORS OLDER THAN 65 AND 75 YEARS

Life satisfaction that determines the quality of life in an old age can be influenced by an environment in which seniors live where they feel safe and can cope with situations that occur, where they are positively accepted by their surroundings and have sufficient contact with loved ones. The aim of this work was to study the effect of environment on life satisfaction of seniors older than 65 years living at home and living in the homes for the elderly. Questionnaire of Life Satisfaction (1st Czech edition, Testcentrum, Prague 2001. Authors: Fahrenberg, J., Myrtek, M., Schumacher, J., & Brahler, E.) ascertains the contentment of seniors in seven scales. Data were acquired by personal interviews. Seniors have been more satisfied if they could stay in a familiar surrounding and keep in contact with their families and friends. This situation is more favourable in smaller towns and villages.
