The role of particle-beam LC-MS in separation development

摘要
The author observed the elution behavior of four chemically similar corticosteroids exposed to different isocratic solvent compositions using normal-phase liquid chromatography (LC) systems linked to an LC-mass spectrometry (MS) system by a particle-beam interface. He found relative ion intensities at selected mass-to-charge ratios were sufficient for structural confirmation and used them to monitor elution order and coelution of specific sample components. The specificity of particle-beam LC-MS allowed a detailed examination of retention behavior as a function of solvent composition.
