Optimal design of a cryogenic giant magnetostrictive actuator constructed with the HTS magnet

摘要
In this paper a novel cryogenic actuator constructed with the high temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet is designed, taking into account both the coupled energy conversion of the cryogenic giant magnetostrictive materials (CGMM) and the anisotropy of the investigated Bi2223/Ag HTS tapes. Then an optimal structure of the cryogenic actuator, which costs the least HTS tapes while still makes the CGMM to the state of saturation, is realized by combining the genetic algorithm (GA) with the coupled field iteration algorithm of Finite Element Method (FEM).
