With growing concerns about the environment and receding fossil fuel reserves, the world is moving towards sustainable fuels and modes of transport. One of the forerunners are battery operated electric vehicles and fuel cell based electric vehicles. In this paper, we discuss about the electric vehicle market scenario in India, electric vehicle supply equipment and globally available chargers (for both AC and DC). An economic model is proposed for setting up EV charging infrastructure at a mall in India based on recent regulations introduced by the Government of India. We discuss about its feasibility and in turn try to motivate private and semi-private bodies to come together in order to setup more charging stations, hence encouraging the boom of EV industry in India.
