SIMULATION OF FAST TRIMARAN SEAKEEPING AMELIORATION USING T-FOIL

摘要
Fast trimaran holds excellent performance because of its high transverse stability, large deck, economy of fuel consumption and high speed. However, the high-speed craft can easily make "dolphin movement" in heading seas. The T-foil is the most effective stabilizer for alleviating the pitch and heave motions of fast craft. This work designs an autonomous trimaran motion control system utilizing a T-foil which can control the longitudinal motion of fast trimaran. Numerical simulation results show that the motion control system can satisfactorily improve seakeeping performance of fast trimaran.
