摘要
Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) surfaces are high impedance surfaces and act as a reflector for lowprofile antennas. This paper proposes an alternative technique for microstrip patch antenna miniaturization using AMC. The miniaturization effect is brought by reducing the vertical and horizontal profiles of the radiator. The amount of reduction obtained is numerically investigated. The proposed antenna is designed to operate at 2.45GHz and is suitable for wireless local area network (WLAN) application. Performance analysis of the proposed radiator is carried out using CST Design Studio. For proof of concept, the proposed antenna was compared with a reference antenna operating at the same resonant frequency. The proposed technique reduces the size of the antenna patch by 22.04% and the ground plane by 29.6% respectively. The vertical profile is also reduced by 12.84% by the proposed method.
