CONSUMER PROTECTIONISM IN THE CONDITION OF THE ECONOMIC CRISIS

摘要
Protectionism was recently used as an element supporting product and service markets of domestic production. In December 2013 and in January 2014 research aimed at shopping behaviour of Karvina Statutory City's inhabitants has been executed. The aim was to find out respondents' opinion about the quality of Czech product; their opinions about protectionism and the preference to purchase Czech goods over foreign ones. Results of the research show that consumers understand the need for protectionist measures especially in the period of economic crisis, however the financial demands of its implementation causes that they are not willing to implement the procedures mentioned above. Consumer protectionism very often ends in many cases in comparison of products' price level.
