Spectrofluorimetric methods for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) analysis in pure water have been developed in order to investigate PAHs photolysis. The study has been carried out for benzo[a]pyrene, chrysene and fluorene alone and in the mixtures. The method is not adequate for the determination of mixtures of arbitrary composition but can be applied for kinetic investigations. For aqueous solution of single benzo[a]pyrene, chrysene and fluorene the detection limits of 6, 67 and 109 ng l(-1) have been achieved, respectively. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
