Milestones of the development of computational geophysical fluid dynamics

摘要
The paper is dedicated to the 90th birthday of the academician G.I. Marchuk, the eminent scientist who made an outstanding contribution to the development of the numerical methods of weather forecasting and climate theory. Made is an attempt to reflect on his contribution to this branch of science in the context of the continious chain of fundamental researches, i.e., to consider the problem in the historical retrospective. Though the fundamental character of one or another research is always subjective to a certain extent, in the author's opinion, the majority of considered studies is generally highly appreciated.
