Volga region seismicity features due to strong earthquakes in the Caspian Sea Basin

Data on seismicity features in the Volga Region due to the strong earthquakes of November 25 and December 6, 2000 with sources in the Caspian Sea basin are presented. These features are characterized and classified according to macroseismic and instrumental data. The seismic activity in the Volga Region is shown to intensify in the period following these earthquakes. Implications of local factors for the seismic intensity increase in the region are discussed.
