摘要：

This article aims to analyze A imensid & atilde;o Intima dos Carneiros (2019) [The intimate immensity of the Sheeps], an autofiction novel written by Marcelo Maluf that narrates the story of Marcelo and Assaad facing the family secrets that motivated Assaad's emigration from Lebanon to Brazil. Therefore, the theses "on the concept of History" by Walter Benjamin are taken into account, mainly emphasizing the notion of "brushing history against the grain". It is argued that, within the fragmented structure of the narrative, composed of family memory reports, the character Marcelo breaks the space-time continuum to find his deceased grandfather Assaad, acting as a kind of "materialist historian".
