Comment on: "The kinetic energy partition method applied to quantum eigenvalue problems with many harmonic-oscillator potentials" by Y.-H. Chen and S. D. Chao

We show that the recently proposed kinetic energy partition method for the approximate solution of the Schrodinger equation is a particular case of the well known Rayleigh-Ritz variational method with an extremely restricted implementation. In addition to it, the quantum-mechanical example chosen by the authors to illustrate their approach is unsuitable for the proposed application.
