摘要
The paper describes the objective, organisation and research of the Competence Centre in Electric Power Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. A vision of the Centre is to renew the R&D system within the country and to involve university and industry in relevant areas of research. The first agreement was signed in November 1995 and it was prolonged for another three years in November 1997. The main long-term goal is to develop new techniques for cost effective, environmentally friendly, reliable and customer-designed power systems. Three subprogrammes have been set up: New Distribution Systems, Permanent Magnet Drives and Power Quality. Sixteen PhD students and two full time senior researchers have been employed for the Centre. The formation of the Centre has had a great influence upon the direction of the research at the Department of Electric Power Engineering at KTH and its collaboration with industry.
