摘要
In this paper, to evaluate the efficiency of smoke exhaust system in building fires, ventilation efficiencyindices such as SVE1, EFCS3, and L-PFR are studied and comparedusing CFAST and STEPS to simulate building fire and evacuationprocess. To revise the existed ventilation efficiency indices, a new exhaust efficiency index, L-PFR(P), is developed. This new index is not only affected by contaminant, but also depends onthe number of people in the compartment. Based on this new exhaust efficiency index, a zoning control strategy in building fire is proposed, which may help reduce the impact of smoke on occupants effectively, as well as energy-saving.
