Metrology in the Slovak Republic and objectives of its development

The article presents the national metrology system in the Slovak Republic, laid down by the applicable legislation of the Slovak Republic and by other legal documents specifying its scope in the field of the state administration, public services and entrepreneurial environment. The individual entities involved in the field of metrology are described, including their mutual relations and activities. Besides that, the principle duties and responsibilities of the particular subjects involved in the placing the measuring instruments on the market and their putting into operation or use, as well as duties and responsibilities concerning the metrological control and market surveillance are described. The next part of the article deals with the aims relating to the development of the metrology and the national metrology system of the Slovak Republic in relation with the measuring instruments that are making use of the latest results of science and research and of the state-of-the-art technologies.
