摘要
This paper presents some original research into the surface roughness produced in the turning of a low chromium alloy steel, heat treated to about 60 HRC (Rockwell hardness) with mixed alumina- titanium carbon (TiC) ceramic cutting tools equipped with both conventional (single radius) and wiper (multi-radius) inserts. The characteristic geometrical features of surfaces obtained in both these turning operations have been assessed by means of 2D surface roughness parameters such as Ra, Rz, RSm, R Delta q, R lambda q, Rmr(c), Rsk and Rku, and some 3D equivalents, which allowed more complete characterization of the surface topography and its service properties.
